NYAKASANGA - ZAMBEZI VALLEY

Nyakasanga Safari Area, a vast landscape measuring 1014km², is one of the prime tourist destinations in Zimbabwe and indeed the African continent. The world renowned Mana Pools, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site borders on the east. The mighty Zambezi River which in itself is a stunning attraction complimenting all aquatic species of Africa’s wildlife is to the north. 

The area is a host to very large herds of buffalo and elephant, and produces high quality trophies of all species to be found in Zimbabwe. Migratory elephant bulls from surrounding areas such as Mana Pools National Parks (which is a strictly non-hunting area) adds the possibility of harvesting large bull elephants. Lion and leopard populations are very prolific and are naturally a home in this very game-rich area.

The location of Nyakasanga Safari Area on the Zambezi River provides the advantage of good opportunities of taking trophy hippo and crocodile. For fishing enthusiasts, the mighty Zambezi River is a popular fishing spot. The different species that can be found include the tiger fish, chessa, bream (niloticus), huge catfish, electric eel, electric barbel, nkupe and many others. 

The area is well preserved and protected by Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority. This unfenced area is completely wild and provides fair chase and strict ethical hunting rules and regulations. 

Nyakasanga Safari Area is approximately a 5 hours 30 minutes’ drive from Harare on tarred roads, with the last 40 km to camp being on dirt roads. The concession is also accessible by charter aircraft to and from the nearby Dandawa airstrip, Chirundu Safari Lodge or Kariba Airport. Chartered flights from Harare are approximately 1 hour 30- 45 minutes.
